Almost 23 months old…that means almost 2 years old!

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve done an actual update for Miss A.  She’s been so much fun these past few months.  Her personality has decided to come out in full force and keep her daddy and me on our toes!

Her vocabulary continues to amaze us.  Her favorite phrase right now is “Holy cow!”.  In Amelia words, it comes out sounding like “Hody tow (like in tower)!”  It cracks me up.  She routinely uses 5, 6, and 7 word sentences.  She is able to tell us what she wants and communicate appropriately.  It makes our lives so much easier, and I think it’s why she is a pretty even-tempered child.

She is now able to count to 10, which is almost unbelievable.  She doesn’t really count things yet, past one or two, but knows the numbers up to 10 in sequence.  She also is able to recognize all 26 capital letters, and knows the sounds they make.

We are very slowly introducing potty training.  There have been a few times that she has pottied in her potty chair, but she really doesn’t seem interested in it.  She’s becoming more and more familiar with when she needs her diaper changed, so we are just going at her pace and letting her guide us.

Amelia is such a happy little girl.  She’s definitely a mama’s girl, and it tends to put her out of sorts if I’m not readily available, but does very well at her Mom’s Day Out program.  She loves to sing, loves to dance, and LOVES to read books.  She often will grab a book and a blanket, climb up into a chair, and read her book.  There are days that she will bring me 20 different books to read.  I love it!

Every little girl needs a pair of leopard print slippers while riding her John Deere Tractor, don't you think?

When did she get so grown up??

Amelia’s crazy ponytails
Please excuse the poor quality of the picture.  Amelia isn’t really a big fan of standing still!  I think she looks adorable with ponytails in her hair, and it helps to keep her hair out of her face.  However, she spent the entire time I was trying to comb her hair yelling “No thank you ponies!  No thank you ponies!!!”.

I have lots more to post about Amelia’s current funny sayings and things that she does, but it will have to wait for another evening.  Hopefully by this weekend I’ll get an update post out.

Pool

I stepped outside after dinner tonight to shake out the mat under Amelia’s high chair.  Amelia came outside with me and made a beeline for the pool, recently filled by the rain.  She was having so much fun that I let her play a few minutes, even though she needed to be getting ready for bed.

Family

Uncle Ben, Aunt Tiffy, and baby Ella made a trip up to Kansas this weekend, and Amelia and I went to Coffeyville to see them.  Here are a few pictures of our weekend.

Snapping green beans with Grandma.

Reading books with Aunt Beba.

Baby Isabel, Aunt Deedee, and Amelia

Neely great-grandparents, baby Ella, and Amelia (and somebody elses hands).

Shearhart great-grandparents with Ella, Isabel, and Amelia. Finian didn't want to be a part of the picture taking.

Kisses for baby Isabel.

Kisses for baby Ella!

Here’s a few from our time around our house.

Cheesin' in the bathtub, playing with her letters

Steak, baked potato, and broccoli. It's a meal fit for a princess.

Amelia's very happy after her bath.

Amelia does love her some books.

Amelia loves blocks

Amelia loves playing and stacking her blocks. We make all sorts of towers!

In other news, my phone auto-corrects Amelia to America, so if I ever call her that on here I blame the phone.
